I always feel awkward writing about myself, it’s not something I really like doing – however, since this is my about me page, here is what I’ve got.
Hi! My name is Katie and I currently live in Bristol, England.
All my working life, up until this point, has been in IT. I’ve only been in IT for 12 years, which I know is nothing compared to some people, but in this time I have learnt a few things and take monumental pride in the work I do.
My most recent employment was with a FinTech company based in Bristol, where I worked right up until 2026. However, in every job, the user has been at the absolute forefront of my priorities. Customer service and the customer experience has always been something I pride myself greatly on.
I have created this blog because I am passionate about sharing what I have learnt in my relatively short career so far.
Outside of my professional life, I am a keen photographer and videographer and have a passion in coin collecting. I love to travel and explore – Glasgow is a city that has stole my heart at the moment!
I hope this blog to combine a bit of my professional life interspersed with my personal life, where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to, that sort of thing. Maybe it’s not something people will read, but maybe it would make me more proficient at writing these types of pages in the future!
You may, or may not be asking, “Well Katie, you left your job in 2026, what’s next?”. I still have a passion for what I’ve done in IT, but still being semi-young, I want to progress my life into another career.
I’m currently training to become a firefighter – it’s something I’ve wanted to do for the longest time. I love to help people and honestly, 12 years sitting in front of a computer all day isn’t how I want to spend the next 50. I want to be out, being physical and helping someone on what could be the worst day of their life.
For now, I will continue developing my blog, and see where it takes me!
